How do I manage two-step verification when I log in?

We (U.S. Bank) use an additional authenticator as another way to prove who you are when you sign in to digital banking. It’s like having a second lock on your door to keep your stuff safe. Sometimes, a password isn’t enough security. If it’s at risk of being exposed, the extra authenticator can stop someone else from getting in.

For security purposes, the two-step verification process can't be completely stopped. However, you can follow these steps to change how often we ask for it.

To manage additional authenticators using online banking and the U.S. Bank Mobile App

  1. Online banking: Select Profile & settings at the top of the page.
U.S. Bank Mobile App: Open the main menu, then choose your name within the Profile & settings section.
  2. Choose Login preferences.
  3. Scroll to the Security section and select Two-step verification and use the toggle switch to turn it on or off.
    • On: We'll send a one-time passcode to your mobile number each time you log in.
    • Off: We will not ask for a one-time passcode when you log in.
