Transferring money between your accounts is convenient and easy. All you need is:
- A U.S. Bank checking, savings, or money market account.
- Be a signer on the external account the funds are sent to.
- Have the account and routing number.
How to add a new external account for transfers in digital banking
Note, we're currently enhancing our transfer experience. Your options may vary depending on your account type. Please follow the steps that best apply to you.
- New experience: Select Transfer & pay from your dashboard and then choose Transfers.
- Current experience: Select Transfer & pay from your dashboard. Choose External transfers & wires and select Recipients & accounts.
- Select Link a new bank account and select how you'd like to add the account.
- Select Log in to another bank, then Continue.
- Enter the name of the institution you'd like connect then search for your institution.
- You'll then be prompted to enter your login credentials, select Continue.
- The account you're attaching will appear, select Continue.
- A confirmation page will appear, select OK.
- If the institution is NOT found, click the "x" on the top right to exit this screen to share your account information.
- Select Share your account info, then Continue.
- You will be required to manually enter your financial account information, then Submit.
- Select Send deposits and a confirmation page will appear.
- We'll email you instructions to complete the verification of your account.
Verification process
If we're unable to complete instant verification after you've submitted the external account information, we'll need to verify the account another way.
How we do that is by making two small deposits of less than $1 to that external account within one or two days. You'll provide us the deposit amounts to verify you're a signer on that account. See also: How do I complete a microdeposit verification for external account transfers?
