External account transfers can be made from your checking, savings, and money market accounts. Please be aware, when adding an external account, you need to be listed as a signer. 

Online banking

For the best online experience, we recommend logging in at usbank.com.

1. Select Transfers at the top of the page, then choose External transfers and wires.
2. Select Transfer money, then choose Link a bank account.
   Note: If this is your first time adding an account, you may receive a pop-up message. Select the blue Link a bank account button to proceed.
3. Complete the form with the information needed, then select Submit. 
   
   • Select the account type.
   • Enter the routing and account number.
   • Add nickname if desired.

If we're unable to complete instant verification, we'll make two small deposits of less than $1 within one to two days. Once you've received the deposits, complete the "Verification process" below. 

U.S. Bank Mobile App

For the best mobile banking experience, we recommend logging in or downloading the U.S. Bank Mobile App.

1. Select Transfer & pay at the bottom of the dashboard, then choose External transfers & wires.
2. Select Transfer money, then choose Link a bank account.
   Note: If this is your first time adding an account, you may receive a message. Select the blue Link a bank account button to proceed.
3. Complete the form with the information needed, then select Submit. 
   
   • Select the account type.
   • Enter the routing and account number.
   • Add nickname if desired.

Verification process

1. Log into your account and access your External Transfers, then choose See recipients & accounts.
2. Select Verify next to the new account listed and enter the deposit amounts.
3. Once verified, the "Account Activated" screen will appear, and you can begin using it for transfers.
