There are a couple things to consider before you place a stop payment on a check:
- Payments already in process or completed can't be stopped.
- To stop a scheduled payment, you'll need to submit your request at least three business days before the scheduled payment date.
- Paper checks are typically good for six months from the date they're issued.

To stop payment on a "bill pay" check using online banking or the U.S. Bank Mobile App
- Select Transfer & pay, then choose Pay bills.
- Select the Activity tab, then search your scheduled payments.
- Choose the payment to stop.
- Select Stop this check, then choose Continue.
- Review your request, then select Agree & submit.
