Purchases are assigned a category based on what kind of business the charge comes from. Sometimes, the category assigned isn't right. Now you can change the category assigned to your purchases.
To change the category assigned to my purchase using online banking
- Select the account the transaction posted to.
- Scroll to the Transactions section and select the purchase in question. The transaction information will display on the right.
- Scroll to the Money tracker section and select Change category.
- Mark the check box Apply to all if you want this change to apply to all past* and future purchases from this merchant.
- Use the drop-down arrows to open each category section or use the search feature to locate and select the category you want. Then select Continue.
- Review the list of transactions impacted. If this is correct, select Confirm.
To change the category assigned to my purchase using the U.S. Bank Mobile App
- Select the account the transaction posted to and scroll to the Transactions section.
- Locate and choose the purchase in question, then select Category.
- Select the toggle button Apply to all if you want this change to apply to all past* and future purchases from this merchant.
- Use the drop-down arrows to open each category section or use the search feature to locate and select the category you want. Then select Next.
- Review the list of transactions impacted. If this is correct, select Confirm.
*All past transactions refer to transactions posted within the last 180 days, that are available within digital banking.
