What's the difference between a dispute and fraud claim?

It would be a fraud claim if there is a posted transaction that you don’t think you authorized. This means you believe someone else used your card information without your permission.

The claim would be a dispute when you authorized the transaction but it posted to your account incorrectly, was for something you didn’t receive or if there was another problem with the transaction.

Examples of disputes include cases such as:

  • The transaction posted twice or for the wrong amount.
  • You returned or cancelled the merchandise or service, and you didn’t receive credit.
  • You did not receive the merchandise or service as described.
