What is U.S. Bank Smart Rewards and how does it work?

What it is

The U.S. Bank Smart Rewards program offers unique benefits based on your relationship with us. It’s driven by the amount of qualifying account balances1 you have. Benefits may include waivers of common fees as well as discounts on other U.S. Bank products.

How it works

  • U.S. Bank Smartly® Checking accounts automatically come with the Smart Rewards program.
  • If you qualify for certain customer groups2, you’ll earn additional benefits.
    • If you qualify for more than one, you’ll receive full benefits from each group.
    • If there is an overlap in benefits, the highest value benefits are applied.
  • If all qualifying Bank Smartly Checking accounts are closed, you will not be eligible for Smart Rewards.

Tier levels3 are based on the total sum of your balances from qualified accounts.

More Information

  • Upon daily or monthly tier reviews, benefit changes will generally occur within five business days.
  • In the event of a tier change, notice is only given to the specific customer with the change.
    • This primarily impacts accounts with multiple owners. If one person’s tier level changes, the other person is not directly notified.
For example, person A has a joint checking account with person B. Person B’s tier level changes from Bronze to Silver. Only person B receives notice of the change.
    • You can check your tier level by logging into digital banking, calling 24-Hour Banking, or contacting your local branch.

  • A tier or customer group change for any account owner may impact benefits for all account owners.
