How do I send money with Zelle®?

When sending money, consider letting your recipient know to expect a notification when it’s sent. This will help ensure the recipient is aware of funds arriving. The notification is sent as a text if you send the payment to their mobile number. Or as an email if you send the payment to their email address.

To send money with Zelle® using online banking and the U.S. Bank Mobile App

    • You can add a new recipient during this step if they're not on your list.

More information

Important: If you receive a one-time passcode prompt and don’t successfully verify it, the Zelle transaction will be cancelled.

The notification is sent as a text if you send the payment to their mobile number. Or as an email if you send the payment to their email address.

Registered recipients: No further action is needed as long as their financial institution supports automatic deposit. If their financial institution doesn't support it, they'll need to manually accept the payment.

Non-registered recipients:

  • The notice includes instructions on how the recipient registers with their financial institution to claim the money.
  • They’ll need to register the mobile number or email address with Zelle® that the funds were sent to.
Note: Both can be registered at the same time, if desired.
  • If the mobile number or email address isn't registered within 14 calendar days, the payment expires, and funds are returned to your account.
