How do I send a domestic wire transfer?

If you have a personal or business deposit account with us (U.S. Bank), you have options when sending a wire transfer domestically.

Before you send a wire transfer, please be aware of the following:

  • There is a fee for using this service.
  • Wire transfers are sent and received in U.S. dollars.
  • You can send a same-day transfer between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CT on any business day.
    • Wires sent after the cutoff time, and on weekends and holidays, are processed the next business day.
    • Exception: The cutoff time for federal tax payments is 2:30 p.m. CT on any business day. 
  • Future dated transfers can be changed until 11:59 p.m. CT, the day before they’re sent.

Visit any U.S. Bank branch and let a banker know you’d like to send a wire transfer.

Send domestic wire transfers easily from your personal or business deposit account using digital banking.

  1. Select Transfer & pay, choose Wires & ACH, then select Wire transfers.
  2. Choose a recipient from your list or select Send to one-time recipient. If you chose “Send to one-time recipient”:
    1. Select if you’re sending funds to an individual or a business.
    2. Tell us what country the person’s address is in.
      Note: This should be entered as “United States” for domestic wires.
    3. Provide their name and address, then select Continue.
  3. Provide the recipient’s bank account and routing numbers, then select Continue.
  4. Tell us more about the transfer then select Continue.
    1. Use the drop-down menu to select the deposit account to send money from.
    2. Optional: Earliest available transfer date will be selected as the “Send on” date. To change this, select the calendar icon and choose a different date.
    3. Give a brief description of the purpose of the transfer.
    4. Optional: Add a memo.
  5. Enter the amount you’d like to send. A fee will be calculated based on the dollar amount entered. Review the fee amount and total. If you accept, select Continue. See alsoHow do I view transaction limits for my accounts?
  6. Review the details. Choose Edit next to any section you’d like to change.
  7. Select Read authorization and review the terms. If you agree, mark the check box next to “I agree to the wire transfer authorization”, and select Send transfer.
