What is account aggregation?

Account aggregation is a service that lets a person see multiple financial accounts in one place, even if those accounts are with different banks. In other words, it lets third parties collect your financial data with your consent.

Common examples when this is used:

  • For a budgeting app that shows your checking, credit card, and savings balances together.
  • A bank app that displays accounts you have at other banks.
  • Personal finance or wealth management tools that track spending and net worth.
