There’re a few ways you can activate your credit card: online, the U.S. Bank Mobile App, or by phone.

To activate your credit card using online banking or the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select the card that needs activated, then choose Account.
2. Select Details & controls, then select Activate card.
   • Online banking: “Details & controls” can be found on the right side of the page within the Card info tile.
   • U.S. Bank Mobile App: “Details & controls” can be found by scrolling to the Manage card tile.
3. Enter the card information and the last four digits of your SSN, then select Activate.

To activate your credit card by phone

• Contact us at the number on the activation sticker and follow the prompts from the automated phone system.
  OR
• Call Cardmember Service at 800-285-8585. When you reach the main menu say, “activate card” and follow the prompts from there. If you’d rather speak to a person, say “agent” instead.

You can manage your alerts anytime using digital banking. Please note, if you have multiple accounts, you'll need to repeat these steps for each one.   

To add or remove account alerts using online banking

1. From your dashboard, select Profile & settings, then choose Alerts & notifications. 
2. Select Account activity from the Notifications menu on the left.  
3. If you have more than one account, choose the one you'd like to manage using the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. 
4. Select Quick setup or All settings and choose the alert you'd like to manage. 
5. Use the toggle buttons to turn alerts on or off.   

To add or remove account alerts using the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Open the main menu and choose Notifications, then select Account activity. 
2. If you have more than one account, choose the one you'd like to manage using the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. 
3. Select the chevron to the right of the alert name. 
4. Use the toggle buttons to turn the alert on or off.

You can choose a combination of up to three email or mobile phone numbers to receive alerts at. Some alerts also require an email address.  

If you reply STOP to a text alert, you may receive the following text message: 

• To stop only these notifications (e.g., account alerts), reply THESE.
• To stop all texts and automated calls (including account, security and fraud alerts) from U.S. Bank, reply ALL. 

If you don’t respond within 24 hours, we will stop all texts and automated calls (including account, security and fraud alerts). 

The following types of accounts can only manage alerts using online banking and can’t be managed using the U.S. Bank Mobile App 

• U.S. Bancorp Investments account
• Trust, Agency, Custody, or IRA accounts with Ascent Private Capital Management
• U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management or U. S. Bank Wealth Management  

Please note that they also need to have the same alert destinations if you’ve gone paperless.

Share your account with family or friends by adding them as an authorized user. Here's what to know about adding an authorized user to your account:

• The request needs to come from an account owner.
• They must be at least 13 years of age.
• A credit report is not pulled when we process a request to add an authorized user.
• The card will be sent to the address we have on file for you.
• You are solely responsible for all the transactions they make. 
• Up to seven authorized users can be on the account at the same time.
• College, Secured, and Young Adult (co-signer) credit card accounts are not eligible to add authorized users.

You'll need their first and last name, date of birth, and Social Security number to get started.

To add an authorized user using online banking

1. Select the credit card you'd like to manage. 
2. Choose the Account tab and select Add or review authorized users from the Account owner section. 
3. Fill out the authorized user form and select Add authorized user. 

To add an authorized user in the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. From the main menu select Manage cards. 
2. Choose the credit card you'd like to manage, if you have more than one.
3. Scroll down to the Control section and select Add authorized users.
4. Fill out the authorized user form and choose Add authorized user. 

Setting up autopay is easier than ever. When you've gone through the process, we'll provide you a confirmation page to review. It'll tell you when the first payment starts, how much is being paid, and what date it'll be paid each month.

To set up autopay using online banking

1.  Select Transfer & pay at the top of the page, then choose Pay bills. 
   • If you don't have a checking or savings account, you'll simply select Pay bills.
2. Choose the account you want automatically paid, by clicking on it, then choose Autopay set up now (found on the right side of the page).
3. Optional: We encourage you to review the terms of service before starting autopay. 
4. Provide the following information.  
   • Pay this amount: Choose how much to pay.
     Options include minimum payment, statement balance, minimum payment with extra, or other amount.
     Note: Only the minimum due can be selected for a home equity line of credit account. 
   • Send payments before or on due date: Choose when you'd like the payment to be delivered.
     This is considered the day the payment is made, also known as the transaction date.
   • Pay from: Choose the account to pay from.
     If you're paying from an external account, you'll need to add it to your list of external payment accounts before setting up autopay.
5. Select Continue to review your autopay settings. If they look good, choose Start autopay.  

To set up autopay using the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select Transfer & pay at the bottom of the dashboard, then choose Pay bills.
2. Choose the account you want automatically paid and then choose Autopay set up now
3. Optional: We encourage you to review the terms of service before starting autopay.
   Note: Only the minimum due can be selected for a home equity line of credit account.  
4. Provide the following information.  
   • Amount to pay: Choose how much to pay.
     Options include minimum payment, statement balance, minimum payment with extra, or other amount.
   • Make payments: Choose when you'd like the payment to be delivered.

5. If everything looks good, choose Start autopay.

If you've recently changed your due date, you'll need to wait until after the new due date to set up autopay.

Redeeming your rewards is easier than ever. Just log into digital banking to get started. If your credit card earns rewards, the rewards balance will be shown just below the account’s name.

If you don't have the choice to view or redeem rewards, your rewards program may not be managed by us (U.S. Bank). These types of rewards cards are usually managed with a retail partner or an airline. 

To redeem your rewards using online banking or the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select your credit card, then choose Rewards.
2. Select Redeem rewards.
3. Choose the category you'd like to browse (e.g., Rewards card or Travel) and follow the prompts to redeem.

As long as you have a mobile number on file, you can change your PIN using digital banking without needing to know your previous PIN.

This is because you’ll need to be able to receive a one-time passcode as part of our verification process.

When selecting a PIN, be aware of the following requirements:

• It needs to be four digits with no spaces.
• It can't be "9999", "0000" or "1234".
• Doesn't start with "0".

To change your credit card PIN using online banking and the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select your credit card, then choose Account.
2. Select Details & controls.
   • Online banking: Found on the right side of the screen in the Card info tile.
   • U.S. Bank Mobile App: Found in the Manage card tile.
3. Choose Reset PIN and complete the one-time passcode verification.
4. After you’ve been verified, enter a new PIN, confirm it, then select Save PIN.

Other options to change your credit card PIN  

• By phone: Call us using the phone number on the back of your card or 800-285-8585.
  • Automated phone system: Listen to the menu options to change your PIN. We’ll offer clear prompts on what to do and what information is needed during the process.
  • Speak with someone: Say “agent” when the menu begins. This will direct you to the next available person. Our bankers can request a PIN mailer sent to the address on file for you. However, they can’t set specific PINs.
• Branch/ATM: Visit us at any U.S. Bank branch or ATM.
  • Branch: Speak with the next available banker and ask them for assistance with changing your PIN.
  • ATM: At the terminal, open the main menu, choose Customize ATM, then select Change PIN. 

Credit limit increase requests can be submitted using digital banking. If your account has a joint owner, we’ll need their details as well.

Before submitting a credit limit increase request, please have the following information available:

• Annual income of the owner(s).
• Monetary assets of the owner(s).
• Full monthly housing payment¹.
• Portion of the housing payment the owner(s) are responsible for².

To request a credit limit increase on your credit card using online banking and the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Choose the credit card you’d like to request an increase on.
2. Select Account, then choose Request increase. 
   • Online banking: Your credit limit is on the right side of the page, within the Settings tile.
   • U.S. Bank Mobile App: Scroll to see your credit limit within the Settings tile. Select it to proceed to the “Request increase” option.
3. Provide your income and asset information, then select Continue to housing.
4. Answer the questions, then select Review my request.
   • Check the box at the top if your account has multiple owners and everyone shares the same address.
   • If the box is checked, we won't ask for the other owner's housing information.
   • If the box is unchecked, you may need to have that person’s address, phone number, etc.
5. Verify the details are correct, then select Submit my request.

¹The housing payment includes the full amount paid to stay in the home each month.

Before taking a cash advance, consider the costs related to one. Credit products used for cash advances may be subject to additional charges. This includes cash advance fees and interest charges that will accrue on the amounts advanced. Alternatively, if you use a checking or savings account, you can avoid these expenses. Getting a cash advance using digital banking is considered an “internal transfer”. So, all you need to do is transfer funds from the credit card into your checking or savings account. See also: How do I transfer money between my U.S. Bank accounts?

To get a cash advance using online banking

1. Select Transfer & pay at the top of the page, then choose Transfers. 
2. Choose the account funds will come from and which account they'll go to. Then select Continue.
3. Enter the amount to transfer, then choose Continue.
   Optional: Enter a memo for your records.
4. Review your request, then select Send transfer.

To get a cash advance using the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select Transfer & pay at the bottom of the screen, then choose Send transfer.
2. Select Choose an account and mark the account the funds will come from. Then select Continue.
3. Mark the account funds will go to and choose Continue.
4. Enter the amount to transfer, then select Continue.
   Optional: Enter a memo for your records.
5. Review your request, then select Send transfer.

If you've received convenience checks linked to your credit card or line of credit, they can be used for a cash advance. Just write a check to yourself and take it to your financial institution to deposit or cash it.

Whether you’re consolidating debt or taking advantage of a good offer, you can easily transfer a balance using digital banking. Please be aware, balance transfers can't be used to pay any account issued by U.S. Bank. And they do not earn rewards. For full details, please refer to your Cardmember Agreement.

To request a balance transfer using online banking and the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select your credit card, then choose Account at the top of the page.
2. Scroll to the Services tile and select Balance transfer.
3. Review the offers shown; when you find one you want, select Choose this offer.
4. Choose a payee from the drop-down menu or provide one.
5. Enter the requested information, then choose Continue when done.
   Note: If you don’t have this information, contact the financial institution's customer service department.
   • Payee address (we'll prefill the address whenever possible).
   • Account number to be paid.
   • The amount to transfer.
   • Optional: Select Add another transfer if you have multiple payees.
6. Review your request and select View balance transfer terms and conditions.
7. When ready, choose Submit. 

To dispute a transaction using digital banking

1. Choose the credit card the charge was made to.
2. Select the transaction in question to expand the details and choose Dispute this transaction.
3. Answer the questions to help us determine the reason for your dispute, then select Continue to start your case.

Having the ability to lock or unlock your card gives you more control over the protection of your account.

• You can lock or unlock your card using online banking or the U.S. Bank Mobile App anytime.
• It's a great feature to use if the card is misplaced. It gives you time to look, while having the reassurance your card is safe from potential fraud or misuse. When you find it, you can easily unlock it and start using it again.

To lock or unlock your card using online banking and the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select your credit card and choose Account at the top of the page.
2. Select Details & controls, then choose Lock or unlock card.
   • Online banking: “Details & controls” can be found on the right side of the page within the Card info tile.
   • U.S. Bank Mobile App: “Details & controls” can be found by scrolling to the Manage card tile.
3. Select Lock card or Unlock card to change the status.

It can be stressful to find out your card is missing, but we can help. Use our digital banking services whenever you need to:

• Check for unauthorized activity. If you see purchases you haven’t made, you can call us at 866-821-8411.
• Lock your card while you look for it. See also: How do I lock or unlock my credit card?
• Report your card as lost or stolen. You’ll be given a new card number, expiration date, and security code.
• If you need your card sent to a different address, call 800-285-8585.

To report your credit card as lost or stolen using online banking or the U.S. Bank Mobile App

1. Select the credit card that’s missing and then select the Account tab.
2. Select Details & controls, then choose Report card lost or stolen.
3. Select Lost, Stolen, or Never received, as applicable.
4. Select the card to close and replace, then choose Continue.
5. We'll lock your card. Select Continue.
6. Enter the date your card went missing (or your best guess), then select Continue.
7. Review the recent transactions. Choose:
   • Yes, continue if the transactions are yours.
   • No, I don't if you don't recognize them.
8. Choose to keep your current PIN or have a new one mailed to you, then select Continue.
9. If your card has design choices, you can choose Keep current design or Choose new design.
10. Confirm your shipping details and select Continue if everything looks right. 
11. Review the order details, then select Replace card.

• While waiting for your new card to arrive, a virtual copy is available in your digital banking.

• Recurring transactions generally continue being paid without interruption after the card number has changed. However, this is not guaranteed. If you have recurring transactions, we suggest letting those businesses know you have a new card number.
